Biquadratic Equations, Substitution
Equations in which the variable occurs only in the 2nd and 4th power, are called "biquadratic equations (bis (lat.): Twice)", because the variable is squared twice (for example ). Under this term you also sum up together all the equations, which can be converted by a suitable substitution in a quadratic equation.
The equation e.g. leads by the substitution to the quadratic equation .
