Chalon-sur-Saône

Chalon-sur-Saône

IMG 5284Wednesday, 16-Sep-2015 - today we go on to St. Remy, a suburb of Chalon-sur-Saône. Our route guiding systeme leads us to an old hotel with nailed up windows, but two hundred meters on the left we discover the hotel we booked and are eased.

IMG 5155Compared with the modern Ibis the Hotel Le Saint Rémy - a family enterprise - is somehow dowdy, but clean and homely. Though the dog is free of charge, we pay - breakfast included - 75,-€ per night, 9€ more than for the Ibis. But my wife is enthusiastic of the homemade marmelades and from monday to thursday the boss is cooking herself. Then an ordinary but delicious meal with starter and dessert costs a quarter of wine included 14€ per person.

Dexter likes the balcony and is always there when the balcony door is open.IMG 5285

On thursday, 17-Sep-2015, we have the first and only rainy day of our holidays, so besides the fotos of the birds looking for shelter from the rain for my camera there is nothing to do. We walk to the Etang Chaumont and along the Thalie but because of the rain we let the cameras in our hotelroom.

On friday, 18-Sep-2015, the sun is back and we walk to Chalon, it takes about 20 minutes starting at our hotel.

We are not crazy about the new Chalon we get to know first, but then we find the ancient town of Chalon and enjoy it.
